Fudan’s First Startup Competition for International Students Concludes Successfully

| Apr 2, 2026

On the afternoon of March 23, the final defense session for the inaugural Fudan University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for International Students took place at the Fudan Asian Youth Center (Qing Shuguan).

A total of 11 projects advanced to the on-site defense round. The project leaders were international students from countries including South Korea, Malaysia, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, and South Africa. Across the 11 teams, 43 students participated, eight of whom were Chinese students.

Bringing together students from diverse countries and academic backgrounds, the event served as a platform for participants to showcase their ideas in innovation and entrepreneurship—a vivid reflection of the creativity and broad perspectives that Fudan students bring to the table.

The competition featured two tracks: a creative track and a startup track. Both focused on emerging fields such as new engineering, new medical sciences, new humanities, and “AI+” initiatives. Each team was given eight minutes to present their project, followed by a Q&A session with the judges. The judging panel consisted of innovation and entrepreneurship mentors from both the university and beyond, as well as representatives of students who had previously won national-level competition gold medals. Evaluations were based on criteria including innovation, feasibility, and growth potential.

Each team came well-prepared, presenting the core concepts of their projects with clear and coherent logic within a limited timeframe—demonstrating strong comprehensive skills and a practical mindset. The atmosphere was dynamic, with smooth interaction between participants and judges, who offered targeted advice from a variety of perspectives.
