SHOU Intl Undergraduate Students Academic Sharing Session
To help international students clarify undergraduate-level examination requirements, master effective study methods, and fully stimulate their enthusiasm and initiative for learning, the International Student Office of SHOU, in collaboration with the Division of Teaching Affairs, organized an Undergraduate Academic Sharing and Exam Briefing Session on the afternoon of September 30th, 2025. The International Student Office specially invited teacher Dai from the Division of Teaching Affairs and outstanding international student representatives of SHOU to attend the session. First-year undergraduate international students from the 2025 cohort and those majoring in International Economics and Trade actively participated. The session featured comprehensive academic guidance and interactive discussions, successfully providing students with essential examination information and study strategies.
Clarify exam requirements and consolidate academic foundations

At the beginning of the session, teacher Dai gave a detailed explanation focusing on the core requirements for undergraduate exams at SHOU, helping international students establish a clear cognitive framework for exams. She emphasized that final exams account for a very high proportion in academic evaluation and are a key link in measuring learning outcomes; international students must attach great importance to them and are strictly prohibited from being absent from exams.
In response to exam-related questions that international students might have, teacher Dai answered them one by one:
1,Regarding make-up exams and deferred exams, she clarified the application requirements, handling procedures, and time nodes, ensuring that students can complete academic assessments in accordance with regulations under special circumstances.
2,In terms of handling grade disputes, she detailed the specific steps for grade review, thoroughly explained the direct connection between academic performance and eligibility for scholarawards, as well as the university’s regulations on academic actions such as academic warnings and withdrawal. This helped international students deeply understand the importance of maintaining good academic performance.
In addition, teacher Dai specifically recommended three online platforms crucial for international students’ academic studies:
1,The "Xuexitong" platform, which contains various course resources and academic requirements, serving as an important tool for daily learning and assignment submission.
2,The "Undergraduate Teaching Information Website" of the Division of Teaching Affairs, which updates key information such as teaching notices and course syllabi in real time. As a core channel for international students to obtain the latest teaching updates promptly, teacher Dai reminded students to log in and check regularly to avoid missing important content.
3,The SHOU URP platform, through which students can query personalized information such as class schedules, exam times and venues, and academic grades, providing convenience for daily study planning.
Next, Mrs. Shi from the International Student Office conducted an on-the-spot assessment for international students through interactive questioning, focusing on key aspects of the examination requirements. From the resit application process to crucial steps in requesting a review of results, and extending to the functionalities of various platforms, Ms Shi's questions precisely covered core knowledge points. The international students responded actively, demonstrating excellent comprehension of the lecture content while further consolidating their understanding and retention of the examination requirements.
Sharing Learning Experience to Empower the Path of Growth

To provide international students with more targeted and practical learning guidance, the meeting specially invited 4 outstanding international student representatives to share their learning experiences, offering "content-rich" learning ideas and methods from different perspectives.
BALABANOV OLEKSII, a 2023 undergraduate student majoring in International Economics and Trade at the College of Economics and Management, proposed an efficient "group study" model based on his own learning experience. He stated that group study not only creates a positive learning atmosphere but also helps solve problems encountered in individual learning through communication, discussion, and mutual assistance among classmates, while improving teamwork skills.
MYA YADANA OO, another 2023 undergraduate student majoring in International Economics and Trade at the College of Economics and Management, systematically shared her learning insights using a well-structured PPT. Her sharing was divided into three main parts:
"Course Classification Learning Method": She suggested formulating differentiated learning strategies based on course nature (such as theoretical courses, practical courses, and language courses) to accurately address the difficulties of various courses.
"General Learning Strategies": This part covered time management skills, note-taking methods, review planning, and other content to help international students improve their overall learning efficiency.
"Students’ Exclusive Advantages": She encouraged international students to make full use of their unique strengths such as cross-cultural backgrounds and multilingual abilities, transforming these differences into driving forces for learning and development, and demonstrating their unique charm in academic studies.
CHHOUR AILY, a 2023 postgraduate student at the College of Economics and Management, put forward valuable suggestions for undergraduate students from the perspective of long-term academic and career development. She emphasized that students should take the initiative to communicate with teachers during the learning process—whether regarding course questions or academic planning, teachers’ guidance can help students avoid detours. She also noted that academic transcripts are not only a proof of academic performance at the undergraduate level but also have a significant impact on future postgraduate applications and job searches. Additionally, Cai Aili recommended that international students reasonably use AI tools to assist their learning, such as using AI for information retrieval, knowledge organization, and language translation, to enhance the convenience and efficiency of learning.
HNIN HNIN AUNG, a 2023 undergraduate student majoring in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation at the College of Engineering Science and Technology, focused on the learning difficulties of science and engineering majors and shared highly targeted learning methods. For challenging basic courses such as Linear Algebra, Probability Theory, Advanced Mathematics, and University Physics, she provided specific suggestions based on the characteristics of each course. At the same time, she also shared insights on exam review, advising students to formulate review plans in advance, focus on connecting and applying knowledge points, use online learning websites, and familiarize themselves with exam question types through extensive mock exercises to face exams with a calm mindset.
Interpret Important Notices to Facilitate Academic Planning

After the experience-sharing session, Ms. Liu from the International Student Office interpreted two important pieces of content closely related to international students’ academic studies for them.
On one hand, Ms. Liu gave a detailed introduction and explanation of the Notice on CSCA. She reminded the relevant international students to make preparations in advance, study earnestly for the test, and ensure they pass it smoothly.
In addition, Ms. Liu also specifically notified them of the relevant policies regarding scholarship adjustments, with emphasis on the need for international students majoring in International Economics and Trade to pay attention to this change: if a student fails a course, their scholarship level will be reduced accordingly. This policy adjustment aims to further encourage international students majoring in International Economics and Trade to attach greater importance to their studies, take each course seriously, devote themselves to learning with a more positive attitude, improve their academic performance through hard work, and strive for a higher-level scholarship, thereby laying a solid foundation for their personal academic development.
Finally, Ms. Liu stated that the team of the International Student Office has always been fully committed to supporting international students in their studies and daily lives. With a strong sense of responsibility and mission, the office consistently helps international students solve practical problems, allowing them to feel the university’s warmth and care while studying in a foreign country. She also encouraged the students to cherish their study experience in China and, through their continuous efforts, achieve "double success" in both their academic studies and personal lives in the future.
The successful holding of this Undergraduate Academic Sharing Session and Undergraduate Exam Briefing Session not only clarified exam requirements and provided practical study methods for international students, but also made them feel the university’s great attention to and care for their academic development.
In the future, the International Student Office of SHOU will continue to focus on the core needs of international students, organize more activities with strong targeting and high practicality, provide solid support for international students’ study and growth in China, help them achieve their academic goals, and enable them to become high-level outstanding talents with an international perspective.
