On September 19, a refreshing autumn day filled with aspirations for the future, the International Education College of Shanghai University held its grand opening ceremony for the Class of 2025 at its Baoshan campus.

The ceremony was attended by Wang Lina, Party Secretary of the International Division; Li Yingjie, Deputy Head of the International Division and Dean of the International Education College; Chen Xiumeng, Deputy Party Secretary of the International Division and Vice Dean of the International Education College; Pei Yulai, Vice Dean of the International Education College; Liu Tingting, Seconded Vice Dean of the International Education College, along with all new students and their academic advisors.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Yang Yanbei, a graduate student enrolled in the International Chinese Education program of the Class of 2025 at the International Education College.

Forty-five international students from 19 countries and ten Chinese graduate students gathered at the International Education College with great anticipation for a new beginning. The ceremony commenced with a welcome video that recapped the memorable moments of orientation day, showcasing how students from across the globe are beginning their journey as new members of the SHU community.

Dean Li Yingjie delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the college's faculty. She introduced the International Education College, highlighting the diverse countries of origin of the new students and the college's future development goals. She encouraged everyone to actively participate in various college activities to broaden their horizons, build friendships, and experience different cultures. She expressed her hope that students would work hand in hand with the college to achieve not only academic success but also continuous personal growth, ultimately realizing their dreams.

Following this, representatives took the stage to share their thoughts. MD ALI EMAM (Wang Yong), an undergraduate freshman from Bangladesh, Zeng Huinan, a Chinese graduate student, and faculty representative Ms. Liu Tingting each delivered speeches. They shared their personal reflections and extended a warm welcome and best wishes to the new students.

Wang Lina, Party Secretary of the International Division, pinned the official university badge on a representative new student and presented them with books. She encouraged the freshmen to make full use of Shanghai University's platform and resources to immerse themselves in Chinese culture and acquire professional knowledge.

The ceremony concluded with all faculty and students singing the Shanghai University Anthem. Soaring with the passionate melody, the new students completed their symbolic initiation as proud members of the SHU community.

A new beginning, a new journey. May the students of the International Education College continue to grow, transcend their limits, and forge remarkable life chapters at Shanghai University.
