The teachers and students first listened to the lecture on the theme of "Pursuing Excellence—The Creative Spirit of Shanghai Film," given by Ren Zhonglun, the tenth vice chairman of the Chinese Film Association. With his profound professional experience, Ren Zhonglun systematically reviewed the development of Shanghai film from its inception in 1896 to the present. He interpreted its unique mission in the history of Chinese film and its global influence, and vividly shared the stories behind classic works. This allowed the students present to deeply feel the cultural core of Shanghai film, characterized by "inclusiveness and pursuit of excellence."
