Shanghai universities showcase breakthrough innovations at CIIF
Groundbreaking technological innovations from Shanghai's universities took center stage at the 24th China International Industry Fair (CIIF), which opened on Sept 24 in Shanghai.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University presented the "Pioneer II" deep-sea heavy-duty mining vehicle, which successfully completed trials in the Western Pacific in June. It autonomously navigated complex seabed terrains and collected over 200 kilograms of polymetallic nodules and crust samples.
Fudan University showcased its video image processor IP core project, which has made significant advancements in ISP (Image Signal Processing) processors, video codec processors, and AI processor inference. The project achieved real-time online ISP parameter search for the first time, significantly enhancing image quality.
Another notable innovation was an overpressure protection device for high-safety pressure equipment, developed by East China University of Science and Technology. This device is designed for industries with high safety requirements, such as nuclear power and hazardous chemical storage, and features a fast-response, high-flow overpressure relief platform with adjustable pressure rate.
According to the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, in order to promote the commercialization of technological achievements by universities, this year's exhibition area hosted matchmaking activities and project roadshows, and invited professional intermediaries and investment firms to scout for promising projects.
