New intl students in Shanghai share their aspirations
Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SUIBE) has welcomed 52 new international students from 20 countries, including 25 undergraduates and 27 postgraduates. Some of them shared their aspirations with reporters on the opening day.
A 19-year-old student from Tajikistan, whose Chinese name is Ye Xin, is studying international trade. A wrestling champion and Chinese language enthusiast, he plans to start a business while in university, exporting Chinese goods to Tajikistan. "I want to explore my future career path through real-world trade experiences," he said. He also plans to document his life in China on social media, showcasing Chinese culture to a global audience.
The other international trade student, from Argentina, began learning Chinese at the age of 11. With a background in economics and accounting, she chose to study trade in China, a key player in global commerce. "I hope to contribute to trade relations between Argentina and China using my expertise," she said.
A student from the Republic of Congo, who is starting his master's degree in international law at SUIBE, is determined to excel and pursue a PhD in China. "This is a new beginning for me, and I know there will be challenges, but I won't give up," he said.
