The 2024 International Laboratory of Earthquake Engineering (ILEE) Summer School at Tongji University recently concluded, offering insights in seismic resilience for cities and structures.
From July 15 to 27, approximately 55 students from 14 countries attended the program at Tongji University's School of Civil Engineering.
The program covered topics like urban seismic resilience, foundation-structure systems, and low-carbon infrastructure, broadening students' academic horizons. Lectures delivered by renowned experts were recognized as "superb" by the participants.
During the program, the students visited key facilities, including the National Key Laboratory for Disaster Prevention in Civil Engineering, Tongji University's Architectural Design Institute, and Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co. These visits provided firsthand insights into China's rapid infrastructure development and cutting-edge engineering technology.
Cultural exchange activities enriched the experience, allowing participants to immerse themselves in Chinese culture and build international friendships. Team-building exercises, facility tours, and city excursions also deepened their understanding of Shanghai's modern charm.
