The TUM-TJ Mixed Civil Camp, a collaborative effort between the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and Tongji University, began on May 26.
This five-day camp focuses on advanced construction technologies, and cases such as the world's largest-spanning bridge and China's tallest building. The event delivered rich academic and cultural exchanges between the two institutions.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Zhou Ying of Tongji University's School of Civil Engineering warmly welcomed the TUM delegation, which included 29 students and teachers. She also introduced the current status and future prospects of civil engineering education at Tongji. Both sides expressed eagerness to enhance cooperation, particularly in AI-enabled disciplines, to boost their respective school's international academic influence.
Collaboration between Tongji University and TUM dates back to 1995, with continuous deepening exchanges over the past three decades. In September 2023, Tongji University's School of Civil Engineering sent 30 students and faculty to TUM for the "Intelligent Construction" summer program.
Deputy Director Li Jing of Tongji University's Office of International Affairs highlighted the success of past exchanges with TUM and expressed hopes for deeper collaboration in talent development and research.
