For the first time in Asia, the 2024 FISU World University Championships Futsal is scheduled to be held in Shanghai from June 10 to 16, featuring 27 teams from 17 countries and regions. Preparations are in full swing, with the tournament less than 100 days away.

Hosted by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the event, held every two years, aims to promote sportsmanship and ignite global interest in university-level football. 

As the countdown continues, excitement is building for this landmark event as Shanghai gears up to welcome the world's finest university five-a-side football teams for a week-long celebration of skill, sportsmanship, and international fellowship.

Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES), as one of the co-hosts, has demonstrated proactive efforts in the preparations for the tournament. The university has arranged facilities and training grounds, ensuring an optimal environment for the participating teams. 

The Shanghai University Sports Center and Songjiang Sports Arena are poised to be fully prepared for action by the end of April. Additionally, the newly constructed Fengyu Field at SUES will be put into use soon as a training ground.

Zhu Xiaoqing, vice president of SUES, expressed that the upcoming event is expected to showcase exceptional athletic prowess while fostering invaluable international cultural exchanges. Serving as a platform for students from around the world to connect, the tournament is anticipated to contribute to the development of Shanghai as a globally renowned sports city and promote the internationalization of campus football in Shanghai.
