Located in People's Square in the city center, the Shanghai Grand Theatre is a city landmark.

The area of the Shanghai Grand Theatre is 64,000 square meters, and contains three large, medium and small theatres.

The theatre adopts the most advanced automatic mechanical stage in the world and consists of such facilities as the Auditorium, Buick Theatre, Studio Theatre, VIP Lounge, a multi-function room, dressing and rehearsal rooms and a box office.

Since its official opening on Aug 27, 1998, the Shanghai Grand Theatre has welcomed countless world-class performance groups and many famous artists from home and abroad. Nowadays, it is a stage for world-class works of art, international art activities and art education for the public.
