Shanghai University of Finance and Economics
The Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) is a multi-disciplinary key university that focuses on finance and economics and maintains coordinated development in economics, management, law, arts and science.
SUFE was one of the very first universities in China to create post-doctoral research centers in the fields of economics and management, and it was also one of the first universities to offer MBA and EMBA programs.
SUFE has been selected as a key university in China's "211 Project" and "double world-class project", which were developed by the Chinese government to attain world-class status in higher education.
The university's three campuses cover a total area of about 55 hectares, with the main campus located at No 777 Guoding Road.
Its economics and business, social sciences, engineering and environment and ecology programs continue to rank among the top 1 percent in the world in ESI. In the 2023 QS World University Rankings by Subject, its economics and econometrics program ranked 109th in the world, and accounting and finance ranked between 151-200; in the 2023 U.S. News ranking of the world's best universities by subject, its economics and business program ranked 100th in the world; in the 2023 Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, its finance program ranked 43rd, economics program ranked between 76-100, and management and statistics and public management programs ranked between 101-150.
SUFE has a full range of programs for international students, including undergraduate, master's and doctoral programs taught in Chinese and English, non-degree programs in Mandarin and Business Mandarin, foundation programs, exchange programs, and visiting scholars involved in economics, management, law, liberal arts, science and other disciplines, providing a variety of professional choices for international students.
Majors such as finance, international economics and trade, and international Mandarin Chinese education are highly popular among international students. In 2022, a total of 794 international students from six continents and 93 countries came to SUFE. Most of them chose degree programs, and some studied Mandarin and Chinese business culture at SUFE's International Cultural Exchange School.
SUFE has established a multi-level and multi-category scholarship funding system including Chinese Government Scholarships, Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarships, Confucius Institute Scholarships, and University Academic Scholarships to attract more outstanding international students.
In addition to academic studies, international students in SUFE also enjoy an active campus life. An annual international cultural festival is held to celebrate diverse cultures, and extra-curricular cultural activities with traditional Chinese characteristics help international students further understand Chinese culture. If students wish to make friends with similar interests, they can sign up for various cultural or sports clubs.
