Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), the only university exhibitor in the Shanghai delegation, participated in the 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), held in Beijing from September 9 to 13.

Invited by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, SISU was among the exhibitors in the consumption-linked trade in services section of the Shanghai exhibition area. Representatives from SISU’s Office of International Student Affairs attended the fair to showcase the university’s “Study at SISU” brand and its international student education services.

Under the theme “Services Empower Smart Manufacturing, Trade Connects the World,” the Shanghai exhibition area presented the development of the city’s trade in services and its growing connections with the world.

At CIFTIS, SISU highlighted its approach to international student education, which combines language learning with other fields of study to equip students with both multilingual communication skills and subject-specific knowledge.

Beyond the classroom, student activities create opportunities for students from China and abroad to connect across languages and cultures, while programs such as city exploration help international students learn more about Shanghai and China.

SISU’s presence at CIFTIS offered a glimpse into international student education as part of Shanghai’s trade in services, as China continues to open up to the world.
