| Aug 19, 2026

The Fudan International Summer Session 2026 came to a close on August 7 with a farewell event in Shanghai. Launched on July 11, the six-week program brought together more than 700 students from 193 universities across 47 countries and territories, plus over 200 Fudan undergraduates, for academic seminars, company visits, and cultural excursions.

Courses

The program offered 47 courses in English across eight fields: law, medicine, business and economics, science and technology, history and culture, society and politics, sports, and Chinese language.

Courses on Chinese history, economy, society, and healthcare examined the country's development from multiple angles. Newly added courses covered digital economy, AI regulation, blockchain, and fintech. Other courses addressed China's role in global affairs, cultural and psychological perspectives on health, and traditional Chinese medicine and martial arts. Chinese language courses were available at multiple proficiency levels.

Field Trips

The program combined classroom instruction with company visits to KPMG, AIA, Ctrip, UCloud, the Shanghai TreeGraph Blockchain Research Institute, and the Zhangjiang AI App Store. The trips gave students direct exposure to fintech, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and cloud computing — topics covered in class. They heard from industry professionals, learned about business strategies, and saw how AI models are applied in real-world settings. The visits offered a firsthand look at both multinational corporations and local tech firms, giving students a clearer sense of Shanghai's role in China's broader economy and technology sector.

Culture Experience

In addition to academic seminars and company visits, the program offered a range of cultural activities. A welcome dumpling-making night helped students get to know each other early on. Hands-on sessions introduced them to traditional Chinese crafts including calligraphy, lacquer fan painting, fish lantern rubbing, Chinese knotting, and herbal bracelet making. A city-wide scavenger hunt took them through both old and new parts of Shanghai. Language Night combined board games with conversation practice. Day trips to the water towns of Zhouzhuang and Wuzhen were also part of the schedule.

Highlights Reel

The 2026 session ran in Shanghai at the same time as a major typhoon made landfall, but the program finished as scheduled. For the participants, it was a summer marked by new experiences in China and time spent at Fudan.
