Tecent×ECNU International Communication Workshop is Launched!

Jointly hosted by Tencent and Office of International Education of East China Normal University, the International Communication Workshop is launched to actively respond to China’s international communication strategy and give full play to the unique advantages of international students in China as "cultural intermediaries" who possess both native cultural backgrounds and life experience in China. The launching ceremony of the first session of the Workshop kicked off at Tencent Binjiang Tower in Shanghai on Friday, June 12, 2026, covering field visits, new media communication training, sessions on "AI + Communication" and introduction to activity projects.

Part 1
Led by a Tencent staff, the students entered the Tencent Exhibition Hall designed around the concept of "Digital Symbiosis" and embarked on an immersive journey through digital technology. Starting from Tencent’s first server and the original OICQ interface displayed at the entrance, we followed Tencent’s development trajectory spanning the PC Internet, mobile Internet and the AI era to visit core exhibition zones including Digital Infrastructure, Smart Living and Industrial Empowerment in sequence. The expansive landscape of WeChat’s digital ecosystem, innovative applications of the Hunyuan Large Language Model, and vivid cases where gaming technology facilitates the digital preservation of Dunhuang cultural relics allowed students to gain an intuitive understanding of how digital technology connects the world and empowers society, while also inspiring new ideas for their subsequent international communication practices.

Part 2
During the training sharing session, the students learned about the development context of AI technology. Starting from early chatbots, moving on to AI search engines with information integration capabilities, and then to today's AI Agents that can independently understand, plan and execute tasks, the instructor systematically illustrated the evolutionary path of artificial intelligence.
Centering on the practical applications of AI, the instructor shared diverse possibilities of "AI + Self-media", introduced practical scenarios where AI empowers daily work with abundant cases, and demonstrated multiple application methods of leveraging AI to assist script design. The students gained a deeper understanding of the WeChat ecosystem and Tencent Hunyuan Large Language Model, listened to the sharing of practical PR experience from leading internet enterprises, and systematically learned cutting-edge concepts and practical methods in the communication field for the AI era.
During the training, the instructor also introduced the functional features and application cases of WorkBuddy, an intelligent office agent, and demonstrated its high efficiency in generating social media copy for multiple domestic and overseas platforms with one click.
Through this training, the students deeply realized that AI can efficiently undertake basic work such as content production and implementation, while humans' unique online intuition, creative expression and emotional resonance capabilities remain core competitiveness that artificial intelligence cannot replace.

Part 3
Anton, a content creator on campus, hosted a practical self-media sharing session. Centering on building viral social media accounts from scratch, he elaborated on the significance of running personal social platforms and the value of personal branding in cross-cultural communication. Based on his rich hands-on operation experience, he shared practical tips for daily account management, common operational pitfalls to avoid, as well as proven strategies for creating and releasing trending content across global social platforms. His sharing helped fellow international students straighten out their content operation ideas and master actionable skills to launch and run their own social media accounts.

A two-month international communication practice program will officially launch during the summer vacation. Centering on content creation, account operation, topic planning, cross-cultural communication and other fields, the program adopts online exchanges, continuous content creation, achievement exhibitions and other forms to help participants translate knowledge acquired from training into practical communication capabilities, and steadily boost their personal brand influence and literacy in international communication.
