On June 4, a group of students and teachers from Convitto Nazionale "Vittorio Emanuele II" — a prestigious state boarding school in Rome — visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). They toured academic buildings and the university history museum, and sat down for face-to-face conversations with current SJTU students. Through these activities, they got a real sense of the academic environment and campus life at SJTU.

The group first visited Pujiang International College, where SJTU showed them its top-tier international teaching environment and innovative approach to education. Staff from the International Student Development Center and the college then walked them through SJTU's history, academic strengths, the development of Pujiang International College, and admissions for international undergraduate programs. The presentation gave the Italian students a full picture of SJTU's global-facing academic offerings, curriculum structure, and application process — offering clear guidance for those considering studying in China.

The group also visited the SJTU History Museum. There, they learned about the university's 130-year journey, including its challenges, milestones, and many achievements along the way.

The group then sat down for a friendly discussion with current international students at SJTU. Some of those students were outstanding graduates from their own school who now study at the university. The SJTU student representatives talked about their experience with coursework, research, and campus life. Everyone had a great time.

This visit gave the Italian students and teachers a deeper understanding of higher education in China. Both sides expressed a desire to build more bridges for young people to connect and learn from each other. Together, they hope to write a new chapter in cultural and educational exchange between Italy and China.

The visit deepened what the Italian students and teachers knew about China's higher education system. Both sides plan to keep bringing young people together to share ideas and learn from one another. In doing so, they hope to strengthen cultural and educational ties between Italy and China.

Convitto Nazionale "Vittorio Emanuele II" has a long history as one of Italy's well-known state boarding schools. In 2009, it launched a five-year international science high school program with Chinese as a compulsory first foreign language — an innovative move that made the school a model of collaboration in basic education between Italy and China.
