A Global Tapestry Woven on Campus: A Look Back at SISU's 2025 International Carnival

The 11th SISU International Carnival on November 7, 2025, saw the Hongkou campus become a global village. With music, food, fashions, and games from 20 countries, students painted a living tapestry of world cultures. Laughter and conversation flowed freely as Chinese and international students connected, wrapping the autumn day in a shared sense of warmth and happiness.

The carnival roared to life with the HIPPOP Dance Crew's "Dance Mix." The energy skyrocketed further as student reps from 20 countries marched in, their national flags waving proudly under the sun, fueling the crowd's electric energy.

The event was expertly hosted by Liu Ying from China and Sytan Peter Chawinga (Chinese name: Sun Bide) from Malawi.

Their engaging hosting wove the stage performances into a vibrant tapestry of sound and motion, showcasing diverse acts from traditional dance and music to theater and fashion. The crisp autumn campus was alive with joyous sounds and continuous applause.

Meanwhile, the festival area offered a sensory feast at twenty country booths, each thoughtfully arranged by international students to display local snacks, costumes, crafts, and games. Participants explored the world through these interactions, collecting passport stamps that turned into lasting mementos of the day.

Organized by the SISU School of Chinese Studies and Exchange / International Cultural Exchange School, the event attracted over a thousand participants, including members from the SISU Songjiang Foreign Language School and the Quyang Community. As one of the university's most influential cross-cultural brand events, the International Carnival is dedicated to fostering cultural exchange, enhancing mutual understanding, and enriching campus life. It serves as a dynamic platform for cultural integration between Chinese and international students and staff, consistently building an open and inclusive global campus atmosphere. This initiative contributes significantly to cultivating outstanding talents with a global perspective.
