Despite China's tea culture, Shanghai has become a global leader in coffee shop numbers, earning the title of "city of coffee." To uncover the reasons behind this phenomenon, Chen Anyi explored Shanghai's coffee culture by visiting Nestlé's first Roasteller flagship store in China, the Hongqiao Pinhui International Coffee Port, and the Shanghai International Coffee Festival. Through these experiences and discussions with industry insiders and consumers, he discovered that nearly 60 countries' coffee brands have established a comprehensive "bean to cup" industry chain in Shanghai. This has led to a reinvigoration of global coffee with innovation, fostering a dynamic new consumer market and endless potential in the city.
