Shanghai in bloom: Where to see flowers this spring

As spring arrives, flowers are coming into bloom across Shanghai. Plum blossoms, orchids, peonies, and more are turning the city into a celebration of the season. Here's when and where to enjoy some of this spring's floral highlights.

01 Shanghai International Flower

Show at Miracle Garden

As one of the major venues of the 2026 Shanghai International Flower Show, Miracle Garden is hosting a series of floral exhibitions inspired by the timeless story The Little Prince.

More than 300,000 flowers from across the globe are meticulously arranged to ensure a rotating display of seasonal blooms, offering something new with every visit.

This March, 160,000 tulips form a rainbow-like sea of color across the landscape, creating a perfect setting for a spring walk.

02  Floral Wonderland 2026

Since the opening of Floral Wonderland, the weeping plum blossoms have dazzled visitors with their soft pink hues. As they begin to fade, a new wave of pink is taking over, with pieris, camellias, and magnolias now coming into bloom.

03 Century Park 

Plum Blossom Festival

As the peak season for plum blossoms draws to a close, the late-blooming meiren plum is about to enter its best viewing period at Century Park.

The park has also introduced two rare century-old plum trees — a 6.5-meter-tall gulihong plum tree and a sculpted 4.5-meter-tall weeping plum — both featured in a specially created display.

04 The 3rd Shanghai 

Spring Orchid Exhibition

The main exhibition is being held at Shanghai Botanical Garden, with Qushui Garden and Zuibaichi Park serving as sub-venues.

During the exhibition, the main venue is also presenting a special display of camellia varieties. At Qushui Garden and Zuibaichi Park, the orchids are shown in the setting of classical Jiangnan gardens, offering visitors a chance to appreciate the charm of Eastern aesthetics in different garden spaces.

05 Impression of Peony

This exhibition features peonies as its main highlights, accompanied by crabapple blossoms, calla lilies, and more, all arranged using traditional Chinese floral techniques. The flowers appear in different stages of bloom, showing both delicacy and elegance.

Set inside Jingyun Hall, the exhibition pairs floral art with the graceful lines of traditional Chinese architecture, creating an immersive spring experience rich in classical charm.

06 Jing'an Huazhao Festival

The 2026 Jing'an Huazhao Festival is held at Daning Park, where millions of tulips, cherry blossoms, and magnolias are blooming in succession, creating a two-kilometer rainbow flower sea.

The festival includes three themed weeks — romance, sports and ACGN culture — and features highlights such as parades of the 12 flower deities, a water robotics stage show, and musical fountain performances.
