Shanghai extends metro services during New Year holiday

To accommodate increased travel demand during the upcoming New Year holiday, Shanghai Metro will operate on adjusted schedules. Here's what you need to know.

 

Extended services

Lines 1, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 13 will operate on extended schedules from Dec 31 to Jan 3.

Temporary closures

On Dec 31, East Nanjing Road Station on lines 2 and 10 and Yuyuan Garden Station on Line 14 will be temporarily closed from 8 pm.

 

📌 Yuyuan Garden Station on Line 10, however, will remain open.

 

Night services

On Jan 3, additional night trains will run on lines 2 and 17, with the last train departing at midnight.

 

The following is detailed information on the additional night trains.

 

Line 2       Hongqiao Railway Station → Longyang Road

Two extra trains will operate after the regular 11:30 pm service.

 

📍 Stops: Hongqiao Railway Station (start), Hongqiao Airport T2, Songhong Road, Weining Road, Zhongshan Park, Jing'an Temple, People's Square, Century Avenue, Longyang Road (end).

 

Only Hongqiao Railway and Hongqiao Airport T2 allow both boarding and alighting. Others allow alighting only.

 

Line 17       Hongqiao Railway Station → Xicen

Four extra trains will operate after the last regular service at 11 pm.


📍 Stops: Hongqiao Railway Station (start), Xuying Road, Xujingbeicheng, Huijin Road, Caoying Road, Zhujiajiao, Xicen (end).


Only Hongqiao Railway Station allows boarding. Other stations allow alighting only.

 

📢 Pilot expansion of stops for late-night trains:

 To better serve late arrivals at Hongqiao Transportation Hub,

 

From Dec 31, Line 2 late trains will add Weining Road as an additional stop.

 

From Jan 4, Line 10 late trains will add Yili Road as an additional stop.

 

During the New Year holiday return period, Line 17 late trains will add Xuying Road as an additional stop.

These trial adjustments are based on passenger flow and may be updated.
