Cherry Blossoms

Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden

The early cherry blossoms at Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden have transformed the landscape into a breathtaking sea of flowers, signaling the culmination of a year-long wait as the trees burst into full bloom.

Gucun Park

The cherry blossoms at Gucun Park in Shanghai's Baoshan district are blooming, with various early varieties adorning the branches.

This weekend (March 8-9) marks the beginning of the prime viewing period, which can be enjoyed at the cherry blossom forest located at Gate No 1, the early cherry blossom forest at Gate No 2, and the cherry blossom variety garden at Gate No 3.

People's Park, Huangxing Park

The 2024 People's Park Begonia Cultural Festival will kick off on March 23. This year's festival will showcase an enchanting display of begonia landscapes at parks including the People's Park and Huangxing Park.

People's Park boasts over 1,500 begonias comprising seven distinct strains, primarily featuring the begonia cucullata variety.

There will also be string music and DIY activities, so make the most of the delightful spring days by joining the festivities in Shanghai.

Orchids

Shanghai Botanical Garden

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Shanghai Botanical Garden, the garden has chosen orchids as the theme for China's traditional flowers and is hosting the inaugural Shanghai Spring Orchid Exhibition. The event features two parts: an indoor display showcasing over 500 orchids from 150 varieties and an outdoor arrangement adorned with new camellia and azalea varieties selected by the garden. Qushui Garden and Zuibaichi Park will also showcase some of the exhibition.

Qushui Garden

Over 100 spring orchids of 70 varieties are being showcased at the Qushui Garden in Qingpu district, featuring renowned orchid gardens such as Hangzhou Jinlanxuan and Changzhou Yinqingyuan.

The exhibition includes traditional spring orchids as well as popular varieties, offering visitors the opportunity to appreciate their beauty and fragrance.

Shanghai Haiwan National Forest Park

The Plum Garden, located on the eastern side of Shanghai Haiwan National Forest Park, covers 133.33 hectares. It showcases around 40,000 plum trees of 126 varieties, including rare ancient plum species.

Xinzhuang Park, Xinzhuang Plum Garden

Shanghai Blooming Garden

The seventh "Flowers Blossom Over the Sea" plum blossom festival has begun. In the park's 13.33-hectare area, 30,000 plum trees are in full germination, attracting many visitors to take photos.

Divided into three small gardens, the plum garden features over 60 varieties of plum trees, including palace pink, vermilion sand, green sepal, river plum, and beauty plum.
